I haven’t read or collected comic books seriously for decades, I walked away from it for the last time, I think around 2013, when they stopped being fun and that predated the modern woke mess that we’re facing. However, I occasionally do watch a video or two on YouTube, I think because I was interested in seeing just how terrible the whole thing is.
Recently, it’s started to be suggested that Warner-Discovery CEO David Zaslav might just shut down DC Comics entirely and honestly, I think that might be a good idea, at least for a while. So let’s talk about it.
I’ve been a fan of MST3K for 30 years. Unfortunately, that has recently changed. It isn’t that I didn’t try to like it but what they’re putting out now, it just doesn’t gel with me at all. In fact, it’s been going downhill for a long time now, this is just where I’m going to cut ties. This just isn’t the show that it used to be.
This is an ongoing problem that I’ve noticed before but today, I saw it in action once again. Over on a forum, we’ve been discussing the upcoming Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, now that the trailer has been released and a lot of us are very skeptical. The trailer looks okay, not amazing but very reminiscent of the older shows, for a reason. The Star Trek series are all hemorrhaging money and viewers. So we have good reason to doubt that this will be any different.
Now I’ve been thinking about this for a very long time, but it strikes me that most movie reviewers, most especially these days found on YouTube, really aren’t that hot. In fact, I find that most of them come off like frustrated filmmakers who, in the absence of their own success, they just want to go after other movie makers to assuage their own failed egos.
There are some shows that I don’t even start watching until they finish their season so I can binge the whole thing. One of those, until very recently, was Prodigal Son. The first season was excellent, although certainly not perfect and most things with Michael Sheen, I tend to like.
So I finally sat down and watched this thing, and honestly, we were all putting it off as long as we could. My daughters wanted to watch it and less than a third of the way through, both of them got up and left.
