What Is It About People’s Opinions?

March 6th, 2016

Recently, it was announced that they were going to reboot Battlestar Galactica again, a lot of people started talking about what we’d like to see, and almost universally, it was “not the Syfy version”.  Apparently, I am not alone in really hating what became of the franchise under the Ron Moore banner.  However, as we started talking about what we hated about nuGalactica, there were other people who were absolutely enamored with it and who started getting upset that we were badmouthing their favorite show.

In reality, these people just didn’t like being disagreed with, they took any criticism of a show that they liked as a personal insult.  Why the hell do people do that?

Why I Think Battlestar Galactica Sucks

March 28th, 2014

galactica

This is not my Battlestar Galactica.  I remember in 1978, laying on the floor in the living room, excitedly waiting for the first episode of the original BSG and having the President having a news conference and pre-empting it.  I remember hoping that they wouldn’t join the show, already in progress.  Luckily, it was just 20 minutes late and I got to see it all and I thought it was amazing.

Now I’m not going to pretend that the original series was high art or anything, but since I just did a post on why I think Firefly sucks, I thought I’d continue the trend with the 2004-2009 series Battlestar Galactica.
