Maybe for next Christmas?

cicret-smart-braceletI don’t usually do things like this, I’m not an early adopter, I gave that up a very long time ago, but there are some tech gadgets that are just so cool that even if they’re not on the market yet, you just have to acknowledge them and say “damn, I want that!”

This is one such product.

Most people love their smart phones and tablets  but they are bulky, especially with the recent move toward bigger and bigger phones.  How  cool would it be not to have to carry this big thing around in your pocket and have all the versatility of a smart phone or tablet, almost literally at your fingertips.

French company Cicret suggests that it might  be closer than we think with a bracelet that projects the screen right on your forearm and gives you the ability to mess with it with the same touch technology that we’re all used to.  It’s not out yet, they’re still working on a functional prototype but if they can make it work, I’ll be the first in line to get one.  I can even see other potential advancements in the idea, make a slightly larger one and turn any tabletop or wall into a big-screen TV.  Use one on the wall behind your computer for a touch-screen monitor.  Heck, Windows 8 might even be useful then!  Nah, never mind, it wouldn’t matter.

So take a look at their promotional video, I’m hoping that their first generation is available in the next year or so.  It’s supposed to have both wifi and Bluetooth, meaning you could use your regular cell phone headset with it.  This sounds like potentially the next big thing and I’d love to see it happen.  I wish Cicret the best of luck developing the technology!  Hopefully next Christmas, I can find one in my stocking.
