Keep Your Politics Out of Your Podcasts!

February 6th, 2018

This is something that I’ve noticed in a few places, but over the holidays, it got really obnoxious, to the point that I just had to talk about it.  Now there’s one podcast that I’ve listened to off-and-on for a while now that’s a let’s-play RPG podcast and for what it is, I enjoy it. But recently, they’ve decided to shove their politics into the podcast and that’s making me reconsider my decision to keep listening at all.I mean, if it was a political podcast, fine, stuff all the politics into it you want. But this has nothing to do with politics.  This is a gaming podcast.  First, they started putting “calls to action” at the end, always some far-left regressive stupidity tinged with hyperactive emotionalism.  But it’s at the end so I can just turn it off and ignore it.  Then, for one game, they decided to take a couple of minutes right at the beginning to apologize for the game they were playing because it “might make some people uncomfortable”.  Not any rational people, not any intelligent people, but the far-left idiots who can’t think, they can only feel.  And therefore, they said “we’re just not going to play this game as it was written!”  Well if you’re not going to play it as it’s written, why play it at all? Go find something else to do!

I’ve dropped several podcasts over the years because of this problem, where they took their far-left regressive political views and insisted on shoving it into a podcast where it simply has no place, because they feel they have to preach the good news of far-left liberalism.  And that just causes me to go elsewhere.

Honestly, when your political views completely pervade your life, to the point that you can’t talk about anything else and it colors your perception of absolutely everything, I’ve got no use for you.  I have no interest in listening to you blather on and on and on about your emotional crutch.  If I enjoy the product and can turn it off before the political bullshit comes along, I might do that.  If it’s not possible to separate the enjoyable parts from the parts I detest, I’m just not going to play along, particularly when you start censoring existing products because they make you uncomfortable.  That’s just childish, which is what the far-left regressive idiots are.  Children.  And I’ve got no time or interest in listening to children whine about being unhappy.  Get back to playing games as they are, not as you wish they were.  And keep your idiotic politics out of your podcast if you want me to keep listening.
