You know, I thought this might be interesting, but in retrospect, knowing Syfy, it was destined to suck. Blood Drive is a Syfy original filmed in South Africa, starring Alan Richson and Christina Ochoa, ostensibly about a road race in a dystopian future where a natural disaster has struck America, resulting in millions of deaths and complete societal collapse.
The one thing it’s not is good. So let’s look at the 13 episode first season of what could have been worthwhile, but thanks to low-budget Syfy, it’s just utter crap.

I was listening to a podcast and they were talking about Monsterhearts 2, specifically from a gay point of view. Now I have no problem with Monsterhearts 2 being very gay-heavy, they can make whatever game they want to make and I get to choose what games I buy or play and what games I simply pass on, and Monsterhearts simply is not a game I have any interest in, either the first one or the second one. I have zero interest in playing through teenage sexual angst period. But I really have to question the business rationality behind it because it seems to me that they’re really shooting for a very tiny audience.

I’ve never been a huge fan of Stitchers. I mean, it’s never been terrible but it’s never been great. I think it had potential, once upon a time, but that potential has long since been squandered writing for what seems to be a female teenage audience, leaving anyone who cares about serious science fiction out in the cold.
But then again, Freeform goes after the “becomer” demographic, specifically teenage Millennials in their late teens and early 20s. So maybe I should be avoiding that channel altogether.
Anyhow, here’s my look at the third season of Stitchers. Pity me.

I see these stories from time to time, mostly posted by the Saw Stop brigade, about people whose fingers have met a nasty end because of their table saw and therefore, everyone should buy their holy grail.
Yeah, but if you look at these stories, they are always, without exception, people doing stupid things. Maybe if you don’t want to be injured, you shouldn’t be an idiot!

I used to love Orphan Black, I was a huge fan of the first season, but as time went on, it started to fall to the bottom of my “must see” list. And it has nothing to do with Tatiana Maslany, she was great throughout, it has to do with trying to do too much and losing focus on the things that mattered to me.
So anyhow, this is my look at the end of the series and what they, and a lot of other shows, did completely wrong, at least in my opinion.

I love Jeffrey Donovan, I don’t think there’s been a single thing that I’ve seen him in that I haven’t enjoyed. So recently, I was just poking around, wondering what he’s been up to after the end of Burn Notice and I saw that he’d been in a Hulu Original series called Shut Eye, that had just been renewed for season 2. Of course I had to grab it and take a look, and as I already knew, I loved it!
So here’s my look at the first season of Shut Eye. Enjoy.

I really don’t watch too much anime these days, mostly because there isn’t a lot out there that interests me. I get all of the new Gundam series, of course, but there isn’t a lot of sci-fi available otherwise. Then I stumbled across the 12-episode series Atom: The Beginning, which is a loose adaptation prequel of Osamu Tezuka’s Mighty Atom for a modern audience. Hey, I’m a big Tezuka fan, so why the heck not? So here’s my look at Atom: The Beginning, as I see if classic anime can have a new life.

Morons should not work with wood.
This kind of stuff pops up constantly, as the Cult of Saw Stop tries to get people to buy their saws, whether people want them or not. So this guy starts asking what kind of table saw he should buy, which is always a dangerous topic, and someone pops up with:
If you continually find it difficult to stay focused, if your mind constantly wanders while running power tools, if you have extremely poor hand/eye coordination, if mechanical things confuse you, if working with tools has always been a mystery to you, if you are constantly injuring yourself on the simplest tasks, get the Saw Stop.
And my response was… you mean people who shouldn’t be woodworkers in the first place, right?
