I was pretty critical of The Force Awakens, a movie that I felt spent way too much time whispering in the audience’s ear “see, it’s Star Wars!” So when they announced Rogue One, I was not only no more excited than I was for TFA, having seen what they could do, I was a little afraid.
Boy was I wrong.

Some things should be allowed to die. Last season, Sleepy Hollow co-star Nicole Beharie decided to leave the show and they should have just killed the series. Unfortunately, they decided to keep going, trading in the majority of the cast and the iconic location to move to Washington D.C. What a mistake that was! Once a really great series, it has largely fallen apart and only got 13 episodes this season. So was it worthwhile? Read on to find out.

Now this isn’t any surprise to anyone who has any clue what furry fandom was, or has continued to be, but I keep finding people who seem to think that furry fandom is a supportive, open-minded kind of place.
Like hell it is.

It seems like everyone wants to get in on the Marvel TV bandwagon. ABC has Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Netflix has their own pile of shows and now FX has Legion.
I really have no idea why they picked this particular character. The son of Charles Xavier, he is ridiculously powerful, but also insane, thus making him inherently outside of the typical superhero paradigm. That is not, in this case, a good thing, as I’m sure you’ll agree, as I take a look at the first 8-episode season of Legion.

Oh look, I read another book. It’s really kind of strange how that happens, I went for months and months not having time to read and, truth be told, I didn’t miss it. But then I picked up a book again and now I want to read a lot. I can’t say I understand it but I’m not at all sad that it happened.
This time I take a look at Destroyer, the second in the series of time travel adventures by Brett Battles. I reviewed the first book in the series here and really loved it. So will this be as good as the first? Let’s find out.

As much as I love the idea of street level Marvel heroes on Netflix, so far, other than Daredevil, I haven’t much cared for how they have been done.
I’ve been really critical of both Jessica Jones and Luke Cage, to the point that I probably won’t bother sitting through a second season of either, unless I’m really, really bored. But that hasn’t stopped people from criticizing the newest Netflix series, Iron Fist, because… reasons, apparently.
So here’s my take on the first season and why it isn’t nearly as bad as some people want to pretend it is.

There are two companies that have been sending us postcards inviting us to their events forever. These are events that we haven’t been to in over a decade and will probably never go back to, yet month after month, we get these postcards asking us to come back.
Guys, it’s time to give up.

Why is it that inevitably when you read the online ads written by ebook writers, more often than not, their ads are terribly written, badly misspelled and generally horrible? I mean, if you can’t write a simple paragraph about your book, why should I want to read your book?

I really don’t know how much there is to say about Murdoch anymore, after 10 seasons, you know what you’re getting and you either like it, as I do, or you just go elsewhere. Murdoch Mysteries is a long-running Canadian mystery show, based on the books by Maureen Jennings. It’s about a turn-of-the-century Toronto detective who develops some amazing techniques to solve cases. It has a great cast of characters and never fails to make me smile.

I reviewed the first of the Tomb Raider reboot games a while ago and I knew they were putting out a new one, I just completely forgot about it until recently when I picked it up. I thought the first game was pretty decent and had about the same expectations this time around. I actually like these games more as shooters than they are platformers, although they still have that element to them, but I’m more of an FPS guy than a puzzle solving guy anyhow. So did this game make any improvements from the first? Read on to find out.
