I am a huge fan of the original book trilogy written by Guillermo del Toro and Chuck Hogan. It was a much more “realistic” take on the vampire mythos and even though I thought it suffered toward the end, I still read through it quickly and really enjoyed it. And then came the TV series, which didn’t quite follow the books in the first season and entirely fell apart by the second. And now the third, which was supposed to follow the third book, did nothing at all of the sort. So how bad was it? I think you’ll be surprised.

Every once in a while, I stumble across a really stupid zombie movie and it ends up on my watch list. This is one such occasion, where I found this Australian-made comedy, starring one of my favorite Aussie comedians Jim Jeffries, so what the heck, I’ve got some time to waste.
So here goes another low-budget Australian horror movie about the walking dead. Is it good or not? Let’s find out.

There are some things that I really dislike about the modern short TV season format, even for good shows, and that’s true nowhere like it is here. Stan Against Evil is a low-budget horror comedy from creator Dana Gould, about a small New Hampshire town where all of the sheriffs have died because one of them, long ago, murdered 172 witches and the witches are getting back at the town. But what can you really do in 8 half-hour episodes?
Surprisingly, quite a bit.
