This came up on a Google+ sci-fi discussion group where someone said that there was some talk that a new Firefly series or spinoff that might be in the works. As expected, tons of Firefly fanatics came out in favor of the thing, but there were a number of us who said, considering the majority of the cast has moved on, just let it die.
Oh, you should see the shitstorm that ignited! But honestly, I never cared for Firefly and I’m a Joss Whedon fan, at least for the most part. I like what he does. I just thought there were tons of problems with Firefly, that’s one of the reasons it got cancelled so quickly, regardless of what order Fox aired the episodes in.
So, I thought I’d spell out what I think is wrong with Firefly and why it just never grabbed me. Of course, your mileage may vary and you can disagree with me in the comments.

Alright, I am officially crazy. Not only am I checking out another new series this week but I found out, completely by accident, that one of my favorite shows, Perception, had an additional four episodes ordered that have been showing the last couple of weeks so I have to get through all of those too. Oh, and Continuum starts this week too! That means that this week’s countdown is up to 15 shows! I’d better get started on TV Thursday – 3/20/14!

I’ve said before that I write prolifically and that my blogs, both of them, are scheduled out to an absurd degree. In fact, I often don’t even remember writing many of the posts that come up during the week, I have to go back and re-read them because it’s been literally months since I last thought about it.
Therefore, I thought I’d post a picture of my calendar. I had to get a 3-month calendar just so I can keep track of how much gets written and when I have to schedule my next post. I know it’s not the clearest picture, but if you strain, you can see that there are two marks, a pink one and a blue one. Pink marks indicate a post scheduled over on my Bitchspot Blog. Blue marks indicate a post scheduled here. Keep in mind, these are only posts that are actually completely written and scheduled, that’s why Thursdays are not marked because I cannot schedule those ahead.
As of this writing on March 15, 2014, I have scheduled out to May 17 here on Cephus’ Corner. That’s a minimum of 4 posts per week, most weeks have more and as time goes on, I will fill in a lot of those “empty” days.
Yeah, it’s insane.

Back in 2010, I watched a 10-episode J-drama called Shinzanmono, a detective drama starring Hiroshi Abe as Detective Kaga Kyoichiro, a single-minded cop who takes on an entire town of would-be suspects to solve the murder. It was a good show, but after those 10 episodes, I thought it was over and I moved on to other things.
However, now it’s back in a 2.5 hour special and here’s my review.

I’ve mentioned in the past that we have played some CCGs but I’ve managed to avoid the hyper-popular ones where the secondary market has gone insane and playing the game is an expensive proposition. One such game was Wyvern and while it was mostly my wife’s CCG, considering she loves dragons, it was still fun to sit down and go head-to-head on.

Now that I’ve sort of been writing again and spending some time around other writers, I’ve remembered a lot of the reasons that I stopped wanting to be a semi-professional writer before. Some of those things I’ve written about previously and some, I’m just getting around to.
There are plenty of websites out there who want to push would-be writers into being “successful” and they always have top-10 lists for what you should do, or shouldn’t do, to be a better novelist. Well hey, I like to answer questions (see my other blog) so why not take on one of these lists, found at random on a Google+ writer’s group?

The Marvel Knights imprint at Marvel has, at least in the past, featured more “gritty” takes on characters, meaning they’re bloodier and more violent than in their mainline titles, but not as “adult” as the Max titles. In the past, characters like Punisher, Daredevil, Wolverine, Captain America and Elektra have been featured in the Marvel Knights line.
Even though it’s not the first time they’ve done it, they’ve put some of their more popular mainstream titles through the MK grinder and this is the first of my reviews of this effort. I give you Marvel Knights: Spider-Man.

I have no idea why, but Castle and Person of Interest are taking a week off, but I’m giving a try to the latest J.J. Abrams show, bringing our list of shows for the week down to 11. That’s not bad, it gives me a little time to watch some other stuff as well. So let’s jump into those 11 episodes in this week’s TV Thursday – 3/13/14.
March 12th, 2014
The Star Wars #6 (of 8)
Astro City #10
Justice League of America #13
All-New X-Men #22
Superior Foes of Spider-Man #9
Superior Spider-Man #29 (0f 30)
X-Men Legacy #300
You know, it’s hard to do this list sometimes because, without looking, it’s never clear what the last issue I have might be and Marvel, especially, is putting out tons and tons of variant covers and re-releases all the time. For instance, Superior Spider-Man has 3 different issues coming out this week, #25, #26 and #29. Yes, the first two are second printings but it doesn’t always say! Therefore, I might leave things off the list accidentally or include things that I already have because I’m usually posting this from a place I have no access to my records.
The other thing, guys, if you’re going to keep rebooting your books, don’t think you can renumber them credibly when you hit a milestone. This is X-Men Legacy v4 #12, not #300. You lost that right when you rebooted into a v2. Try again.
